Syft is more than a platform for flexible work; we help you progress in your hospitality career. With Syft, you can choose and follow different progression paths within the hospitality and culinary arts sector. Your Syft shifts allow you to gain experience and develop skills, so your Syft profile and ratings act as a verified record of your industry experience for your career advancement.
Taking on new job roles brings about many benefits. You’ll have the opportunity to pursue more jobs, earn more, work at a greater range of bars, cafes, restaurants, hotels and more, plus improve your overall employability. Here are some examples of career progression we provide to our Syfters:
From Bar Back To Bartender
As a Bar Back, you'll ensure the bar is running smoothly throughout the shift, from changing kegs to collecting empty glasses.
After working 10+ shifts, your customer-facing, money handling and drink making skills should reach the point where you can be verified as a Bartender.
From KP To Chef de Partie
As a Kitchen Porter, you'll ensure the kitchen is clean and well organised. To progress to a Food Prep Assistant role, you'll also need to complete Food Saftey Level One training, which we provide for free! Your job will be to prepare ingredients and simple meals.
After working 10+ shifts, you can take on work as a Commis Chef, where you'll be more involved in cooking meals. With enough experience, you can become a Chef de Partie.
To be considered for a new job role, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. In your message, ensure you include:
- the job role(s) you’d like to be verified for
- top feedback you’ve earned from shifts
- skills you feel you’ve gained and improved
- any additional training or qualification that will support your new role
Our recruitment team will then consider your application, which can involve being invited to one of our offices for an interview and assessment. If you passed the assessment, you’ll be verified in the job role; if you don’t, you will not be verified but your current status on the app will not be affected.
