The Role

As a Software Security Engineer you’ll design, build, and improve systems which keep Syft secure. Together with your team you’ll define robust ways to build, operate, and scale security. You will integrate with technical teams across Syft, providing both implementation-level contributions as well as mentorship, guidance, and education on security best practices.

Essential Requirements

• Proven track record of building, securing and automating enterprise scale software, infrastructure, and systems — and a strong desire to solve problems with code.
• Minimum 5 years of experience developing applications in Ruby.
• Minimum 3 years experience focusing on application security.
• Experience using Docker, Terraform, Vault, Heroku, AWS, and other cloud-based services, particularly in the areas of security automation, engineering, and design.
• Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and internals.
• A tenacious ability to diagnose and fix security, performance and reliability problems.
• Experience working closely with SRE or DevOps teams.
• Experience tuning, improving and devising new ways to collect signals, reduce noise, and identify suspicious events in corporate or production environments.
• Experience building highly available and secure systems at scale, in particular using Security by Design approaches.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly collaborative.

Desirable

• Experience with, and an understanding of the Center for Internet Security (CIS) Controls (or other, related industry-accepted security controls framework) as well as various privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) are a bonus!
