On Tuesday 24th April we hosted our first event, a forum for logistics professionals called SyftLIVE: Future Logistics West London. It took place at Fit Out UK in Park Royal, Europe’s largest industrial estate and the home of 2,000 businesses. This vital economic base is the site of the country’s largest regeneration project, the Old Oak and Park Royal Redevelopment, where tens of thousands of new jobs and dwellings will be created, as well as the construction of major new HS2 and Crossrail hubs.

The logistics industry is an ever-evolving field. It responds to trends like changing consumer habits, where people expect swift deliveries and premium packaging, and technological innovations, like artificial intelligence and drone technology, while needing a regular influx of skilled, dedicated workers operating a number of different functions. With SyftLIVE: Future Logistics West London, we sought to analyse the sector as it stands and ask the questions that are becoming more pertinent.

What are the risks and opportunities to the logistics sector in the forthcoming years? Rapidly changing technology can help firms get ahead – but is it being effectively utilised? Can today’s infrastructure keep up with changing consumer habits? Do contemporary hiring practices guarantee quality staff to meet future demands?

Representatives from influential sector bodies such as West London Business, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Women in Logistics shared their insights through presentations and panel discussions. Attendees were then invited to engage in a wider dialogue through asking questions and networking with peers. With West London’s manufacturing and logistics hub, spanning Park Royal to Heathrow, containing such an array of companies, we brought together individuals in food manufacturing, logistics, delivery, warehousing, printing, packaging and more.

Here’s a selection of pictures from the event. Thanks again to our speakers, attendees, partners, Fit Out UK and workers on the day. We received very warm feedback and are planning our next event to be even better- stay tuned!

We kicked off with a delicious array of British, Italian and Spanish dishes provided by Park Royal caterer Bread & Honey. Safe to say it kept our attendees well fuelled for the day ahead.

Attendees seized the opportunity to network and discuss the issues raised.
